Hi all im not from round these parts but i have a lovely Chim in my garage which i will be working on over the next couple of days.
Just before i go diving in can anyone shed any light on either of the following:

The wiper motor can be heard but no movement of wipers

The oil pressure gauge is on full scale deflection

For the former im assuming either thread extension sheared teeth or similar and im going for an earth fault on the gauge. Any other suggestions?

Ta

Its a 400, not sure what year but its a later one, later rear lights etc.

I'm with the earth fault on the gauge. Probably at or within the sender. Does the oil warning lamp operate correctly (it's on a different sender)?

It's probably the actual oil pressure sender at fault for the gauge. Buy one of these if that's the case:

Will that gauge definately work then?
Looking at it today, where the spade connection is on the sender, it just seems to be floating about and loose into the unit itself so id guess its shot.
Finally fathomed the wipers out aswell, after finding the wiper motor hiding above the drivers knees (different to the bible!) i have removed the dash top cover and found an access panel riveted in place, with this removed i can see the wiper linkage which has the rod with a hole in it going to the motor and a ball on the linkage between the wipers, but no connection between the two. I have had a good hunt around but cant find it so ill be needing a replacement, any ideas? it must be a plastic part with a cup on one end for the ball joint and a push in part to go in the operating rod.

For a guess id say wipers had been stuck and the motors kept going, this plastic part being the weakest point? At least its not the motor though!
