Evening All

I am looking for some help with regards to my Dad's collection of MG midgets.

In short, he sadly passed away in August, leaving behind many many unfinished projects. Within these are a collection of 3 midgets - 1 'useable' (1977), 1 future project (1973 RWA) and 1 donor car (1981). There is also a significant number of parts that he was collecting for the future project.

Basically i am looking to speak to people who might be able to help me decipher what's what, and perhaps advise on how to best proceed with regards to finding it all new homes. I am extremely keen to avoid the scrap yard as much as possible - it would break his heart.

If anyone could point me in the direction of a suitable forum or group, It would be much appreciated (I have looked at the MG owners club and they require a paid membership which is frustrating).

Thanks in advance

Usually clubs are receptive to emails about such matters and are keen to help out.

Classic and Sportscar sometimes also publishes letters/little articles about collections looking for a home.

The MG Car Club has a midget register, contract them via the club based in Abingdon I'm sure they would be delighted to help.

Condolences for you with regard to your dad.

On the subject of the Midgets, I agree with the first reply, try the MG club, they will almost certainly have people who would want the cars, whether it's just one person or a number between them.

Where in the country are you?

There is an MG forum on pistonheads, you can post there.

I ran my midget for 20 years and am pretty clued up, but not super-geek, but you need someone who doesn't need to travel hours.

I googled "mg midget forum" and found this MG Midget https://www.mgexp.com/forum/mg-midget-forum.3/ which looks to have plenty of traffic.

Yes, and that's the way it has become now, with these out there actively waiting to be offended.

Many thanks for your replies. I have made contact with a couple of the groups you have mentioned, and also found a friend of a friend who is very much into the classic car scene in my area. He is going to give me a hand sorting through things.

Thanks again

I've had to advise or assist in several similar cases with Lancias', a marque I know well.

My advise would be to try and ensure that each of the three cars is as complete as possible and so sell invidicually - the usable 1977 car, the future project plus parts sourced for it and the donor. It may make sense to sell the future project and the donor together or at least the option thereof, but not make it a binding requirement. Many people who are looking for a project, often don't have the space or the resources to end up with a project and a donor, else they would probably buy a car closer to finishing.

If there are duplicates of parts sourced, then I would list those seperately.

It depends on timescale as to how quickly you have to sell them.

A little person? What, like a sprite?

Or Austin Healey, he's quite small.
