IF anyone is a member of the 260s forum, do you know why it's taken nearly 2 weeks for the moderators to approve my membership? Any help much appreciated!

Thanks Andy!

Cirks - I have indeed seen the light!

As for actually getting a car - there seem to be three distinct types of car on the market.

- Snotters - I'm not interested.
- Decent cars at the right price - selling before I can get a chance to view them.
- Decent cars priced high - not selling and not willing to budge on price.

The £9999 ZT-T on autotrader is a good example of the last type.

I've been looking for a while now, and I'll keep on looking until I get one!

When I bought my 260 I had what I considered to be the ideal spec in mind. I realised pretty quickly that I was not going to find what I wanted unless I was prepared to wait a very long time.

I probably paid too much for mine. However I wanted a car that had been looked after. I also wanted a car that had been used and not been left standing in a field somewhere. Things like colour went out of the window but I bought a car that I have been very happy with. I was prepared to pay more for a full main dealer history and a three year warranty.

The car a £9,999 has not been for sale for that long as far as I know and its a ZT-T which are rarer. I still do not think it is a huge price to pay for a very individual V8 car.

Ask dobbo to e-mail me at info@two-sixties.com Andy.

If he registered 2 weeks ago then it would have been deleted as a spam by now. He needs to tell me his username so I can look out for him next time.

Cheers
Tim

Thanks Andy, I'll send an email.

With regard to the cars for sale at the moment - I think the red one is about £700 over priced but the owner doesn't agree! Clive's car looks like an absolute winner, I suspect though it will be gone before I can view it which has happened to me with three other cars already.

The green estate is way too expensive as it's not an SE, I know the estate is rarer but as far as I'm concerned it doesn't command a £3000 premium over an SE spec saloon - the black ZT-T on ebay with the dodgy provenance just sold for £5300!

There was also a blue ZT-T for sale on PH for a long time which didn't sell even when it dropped to below £7k - the prices are all over the place and it all seems to come down to history.

I think you've got to accept that they're just so rare, especially the estate versions, that there's not really any such thing as a "standard" price to pay for one.

The most common, and thus easiest to price reliably is the Mk2 saloon. At the other end of the scale is the Mk1 tourer.

When I went looking for one, it was about 12 months from when I started really seriously looking to when I found one. I ended up buying that one, but carried on looking out for them anyway, and it was about another 18 months before I saw another! From memory, there are only something like 23 Mk1 tourers, not all of which are in the UK, and mine's not for sale! hehe

You might want to take another look at that green one on Autotrader btw, because the pictures don't match the description. It has leather/alcantara upholstery (which was a standard SE option instead of full leather) rather than cloth, and also appears to have the Satnav/TV head unit.

The above leads me to assume one of two things. Either they're using stock photos or, more likely, they've mistakenly cut & pasted the description from another one which they sold previously.

You might be right Kermit, I had spotted the TV in the dash so I checked the reg number and it's not registered as an SE but it wouldn't be the first one that was registered incorrectly.

When I started looking for one, a green tourer was exactly the car I wanted. Sadly £9999 is a little bit outside my budget in any case - and although I'd prefer a tourer I can't justify that extra cost, so I'm looking at saloons now.

Even if I could get the one on Autotrader for a bit less I'd have to go straight out and upgrade the exhausts which would push the price right back up again!

Indeed. Mine isn't registered as an SE either, but it has every single possible piece of kit fitted with the exception of power fold mirrors, which weren't part of the SE spec anyway. It was built as Rob Oldaker's company car (the Development Director) so no doubt they just put all the whistles and bells in, regardless of what they called it.

Oops. paperbag I assume you've checked my profile pic? biggrin It's the only one of any shape or model of the V8s in Biomorphic green.

It will be interesting to see how much the price difference holds up in the future. Mine cost me £12,700 3 years ago on 25k miles. I'm not selling it, but as a Mk1 Tourer, I'd reckon on probably getting around £9k for it 3 years and 35k miles later, which is pretty decent depreciation for something that size, I reckon!

Suddenly your login name makes a lot of sense!

Have to say your car is a winner. As soon as my Fiesta is sold I'll have a bit more cash available, maybe I can stretch to the tourer on Autotrader if I can haggle the price down a bit...

How much does it actually cost for a 'Charger. I have heard various figures mentioned.

Dreadnought will want £6k of your hard earned and for that you'll be looking at 400 horses.

Other conversions are available but from what I've seen the dreadnought offering is tried and tested and is the neatest installation.

Well, I finally got one. Paid a bit more than I had originally wanted to but hopefully it will prove to be worth it.
