1275 A Series Engines.
Discussion
A friend has been offered an A series engine from a Marina van to replace the very tired unit in his 1974 Midget.
Questions are: Will it fit without modification? We realise it will be a low compression engine, How to raise the compression, head skim, thinner gasket or new pistons? Anything else to look out for?
Thanks in anticipation of your help, I am in awe of the collective wisdom on PH & am sure some of you will give us guidance.

It is a popular mod for Midgets and Sprites but will probably be an A+ engine, or at least one with the oil filter screwing down rather than up into a canister
With Aserieses getting a bit scarcer these daysI would snap his hands off
There will be things to do
backplate, maybe front plate for engine mount fixing and such
The flywheel may not be the same either
why not pop into the MGE BBS Midget and Sprite Technical area and ask the guys there, the place is full of helpful ideas, so much so that you will have happy hours trying to sort it out

I can't give better advice 'cos I haven't tried it but would certainly give it a go
