Clubsport fuel check

In an effort to find out how much fuel left in my Clubsport, I thought I would replace the dry break filler with a conventional filler and use a dip stick, but then thought I might find the tank has foam in it.

Will this be the case?

Unless it's been messed with (not a good idea) yep; fit a dry break fuel testing connection (like a Staubli) on the main feed in the engine compartment and use that to pump out and measure by switching on the pump. It's a bit of a palaver, but once you get the hang, it's easy, quick & certainly accurate enough.

I do use the testing connection to remove fuel if the car is not going to be used for a month or so, but on track days it would be useful to know how much fuel was left without going to the extreme of emptying the tank.

Any ideas?

Your best bet is to use sums. Drain tank, put in 20l. Drive hard for 10 mins on track. Drain fuel, work out how much used and divide by 10.

Then you can judge how much used by time. Much easier than to try dipping (which is very unlikely to work I reckon).

Really should do this test before i upset a few by running out. but TBH i have always added 15/20 ltrs after every session and always had some to remove at the end of the day. Phew.

My clubbie used to start missing for quite a while before it ran out completely. Whenever I track-dayed and got low on fuel, it'd give me enough warning to get back to the pits even if it was a whole lap.

I only get one corners notice from mine I've had an "unexplainable loss of power" on a couple of occasions.....
