Clubbe ZZR carb airbox - anyone used one?

Just fitted this part shown in the pics to the ZZR carbs (thanks BB), has anyone used this setup? Run without a filter? It seems a funny setup, takes air from the ignition coil area.







Any experiences appreciated

Yes that was the type of airbox used on the early ZZR1100 Clubsports.
They did not use an air filter.
