our xk8 had mot failed on excessive corroded seat belt anchor offside and outer sill rear nearside not seen it but read report know these are common issues but wondered if easy weld repair can the outer sill repair be seen easily when looking at the car, just getting some idea before the man gets the grinder and mig out cheers all

Here's one I did recently



You cannot buy repair panels, you have to make them.







Not a cheap job if you have it done properly, you can guarantee the inner sill is just as bad if not worse than the outer...

When I had my 1999 XKR re boddied I was horrified to find how much Rust Beatle there was where you wouldn't expect to find it.


We all know about the sills and foot wells, but there is more you can't see unless you know where to look

had a look before they welded no where near how these pics show rear sill was about 30mm x 40mm and floor pan area about 40m x 90mm all other underside was good. with mot and welding and good underseal £260 all in didnt seem to bad for another year !!!

I've not worked on an XK but have done plenty of welded repairs - as long as you take it to someone who is at least reasonably good, there's no reason why the repair should be particularly visible from outside once done. I definitely wouldn't let it put you off getting the work done.
