My 1999 XJR has started making a very strange noise which, as far as I can work out, is coming from the nearside suspension. It happens at random intervals, is only audible with a window open, and sounds not unlike Sooty's irksome mate Sweep. No, really. It's such an odd noise that at first I thought one of the wheelarches had got a bird caught in it. Or a puppet dog.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I had a similar fault and only a new wheel hub cured it.

This.

My old 1998 XJR developed this wierd squeaking noise which was only audible in carparks etc... with the window down.

It's the bearing rotating in the hub housing making a noise as the metals rub on each other.

Unfortunately this effectively buggers up the bearing recess in the hub... needing a replacement hub to fix properly.

The other thing was, I actually had a puppet dog stuck in the wheel arch for a bit too.
