Hi,

So happy with the S-type and just looking to give it a service for my own piece of mind (was service 3500miles ago but 10 months ago).

I have all the service history receipts with the car but none of them mention a gearbox oil change. So at 70,000miles thought this might be worth doing ?

So my question to PH'ers. Is it worth doing a Oil and Filter change on the Auto Box. If so anyone done this got any advice or instructions ?

Thanks

Jaguar steve

Yes. Get it done. At 70k the oil will have degenerated to a point where it's way out of spec and there's a more than reasonable chance your 'box will fail prematurely due to lubrication breakdown.

Let me know which box it is and I'll see if I've got instructions how to do it.

I've just had mine done at 100,000 miles and it's made the 'box much smoother. My local indy charged about £240 to do it on my 4.2, just hope I didn't leave it too late!
