They seem to be valued similarily £30k+ but which one would you have.
I dont get the Eventer ,the performance and handling of the Car is the same as the standard car so for your extra cash you get a tailgate. The Lister looks like a big brother of the XJS with the power to match.
I know the Eventer owners are passionate about their Cars and they do look like a factory built car which is a credit to them but I would love to hear more from the Lister owners out their 700BHP must be fun.
I see your point, but the cars a are very different and would appeal to different customers (then and now).
I like the Eventer. I think it looks very stylish and it was unique,I can't think of a direct competitor.
I wouldn't want to pay the current rates for one - but then you can say that about almost any car that you don't intend to buy !
The Lister is a fabulous car, no doubt, but the fact that it's so specialised may be against it as a used buy. Also its looks are challenging and controversial to say the least.
On paper the Lister looks better value, but then original cost or quality is seldom a guarantee of future value.

Interesting choice to make but.........i think its quite straightforward,if you want an estate car get the Lynx , if you want a performance car get the Lister.
I have a Lister and i have inspected more than one eventer - with the Lister be prepared for a full mechanical re-build especially the engine and with the Eventer be prepared for lots of bodywork restoration.
I love my Lister now that its been re-built , 7 litre , twin chargers with intercoolers and motec management system but its cost a great deal of money........and so would an eventer i fear.
For years i saw ads that would say 30k spent on this that and the other, now for sale at £9995 and think how daft is that! and now i've done the same except the numbers are bigger !
Dont want to put you off just saying be prepared for bills and heartache along the way if you are actually going to use the car regularly

I just think the Lister is true to the Jaguar Heritage and I am jealous that I only have 6.0l and not 7.0l.
I actually think the Eventer is probably one of the best custom jobs around but I just dont get it.
I do get a supercharged V12 XJS and I think the wider bodywork looks fantastic. There is one for sale locally a Red one wonder if he'd let me have a test drive.....
