We need a daily driver and I quite fancy an X-type estate. We live in France so diesel is a 'sensible' option.
I know the 2.2 has FAP and DMF but what about the 2.0?

Yes it has a DMF, and I think they have a particulate filter from 2006 onwards.

Thank you. Now I just have to find out if either have ever been troublesome...

88k miles and not had a problem yet. Have a look at www.jaguarforum.co.uk. There is an X-Type specific forum on there with a fair bit of info. As far as I can tell the X-Type is no worse than any other vehicle for DMF problems, and at least when something breaks parts are plentiful as the majority of the engine hardware is shared with the Mondeo and Transit.

Mine was on its way out but it seems that most modern diesels have issues with the dmf. If cost me £595 to replace the (3 piece) clutch and DMF inc vat & labour so even if it does go, it's not a bank breaker

Hope this helps
