I've owned my XKR for two weeks now and have a couple of questions? How long would you feel it's ok to leave the car for before putting it on a trickle charger? I'm likely to be leaving it for ~ 4 weeks in my garage at some point. Also, I looked up the battery in the manual - it goes on about connections in the boot, what's all that about? biggrin Bear in mind I haven't yet opened the bonnet on the thing!

Thanks in advance.

Mark.

On both my TVR's I've got a Halfords battery conditioner. As good as any Accumate and about half the price.

I wonder if the XKR battery is in the boot? It is on the XJ-S I've been looking at.

I've got a 2007 XKR. Left it over a week and it was fine (but be ensure you shut the car down properly and put the parking brake on). Haven't risked it longer without putting it on an accumate as there are plenty of stories on t'internet of flat batteries.

Battery is indeed in the boot behind the rear "bulkhead" where the DVD loader is for the Sat Nav. Easy to find and access.

I have a [edited to add: CTEK charger from www.hamiltonclassic.co.uk] rickle charger on my xjr, with battery in the boot.

You should be good for a couple of weeks at least, not sure about four weeks tho. I would leave the car unlocked/unalarmed or disconnect the battery to avoid inadvertent draining.

Just be careful not to shut the boot with your keys in if the battery is disconnected.
