Dunlop Sport Maxx tread depth when new

I have at last gone for an XFR and pick this up on Monday. The car was bought unseen from my local Jaguar dealer as there are none within 100 miles of Newcastle, I specifically asked what the tread depth is for each tyre and was told they are all new. Today I received an email that the car is getting 2 new front tyres as they need replacing, I obviously challenged the statement about all 4 being new and then questioned the rear tyres, so the sales guy told me they have 5.35mm of tread but this is brand new and due to the high performance tyre this is normal as they can't have 8mm like most other tyres, he claims to have checked against the showroom car. I don't believe him, every tyre I have ever purchased has circa 8mm from new and after some googling and looking on the dunlop website I could not find any specification that confirmed the new tread depth.
Can anyone confirm what tread depth the Dunlop Sport Maxx's 285/30/20 rears come with from new or point me to any sites that have the details.
I really want to get the car on Monday but have a horrible feeling that there could be some more surprises when i go to collect it.

Each to their own I guess.Ha. I put £100 deposit on a car because when I asked if the interior was cream, he said yes it was (the advert photo was taken in poor light). On arrival to complete the deal it turned out to be butterscotch, which I hate. I walked away and the dealer refused to return my £100. I hope you enjoyed your present Mr Shonky Dealer near Kings Lynn.

Definitely 8mm....the only ainstream tyres to my knowledge that come with less tread are the Cup/Corsa tyres from Michelin and Pirelli respectively. These tyres are made up of different compounds to normal, are pretty much as close as you'll get to a road legal track tyre, they're not brilliant in the wet but are frankly stunning in the dry. Annoyingly they're extremely expensive AND come with just over 50% of normal tread depth (5mm)....go figure?!?!
To the OP....sounds like the dealer was trying to pass the Dunlops off as one of these special tyres which they most definitely aren't. Annoyingly this is so typical of the motor trade these days where you will just be lied to either because of the salespersons ignorance (because they don't know what they're talking about) or because they will purposefully see what they can get away with to seal a deal.
When I bought my XFR from one of the Guy Salmon branches I was told it wasn't worth me keep the tax disc on my trade in because as the car was under a year old (and as such I'd not purchased the original tax) I wasnt entitled to a refund. As I knew this to be a lie they very nearly lost the deal at that point but I still kept the tax and got my refund. Thankfully my recent dealings are with my local dealer, Sturgess in Leiceter, who so far appear exceptional and very different to typical experiences in other dealers.
