No help whatsoever, but that is going to be fantastic.
I loved the sound of my XJ V6 on full splat.

The sump from a V6 X type will fit the engine; I have fitted one.

A word of warning which I will doubtless be flamed for on this forum. The Jaguar V6 engine would not be my choice for a conversion. It is seriously flawed and brutally expensive to repair. It suffers from oil surge problems in the X Type because it was designed initially to be fitted inline, but is fitted transversely in the X Type. In a Lotus the oil surge will be even worse due to the superior handling.

If you want to fit a V6 to your Lotus use the Audi unit. It is an absolutely beautiful turbine of an engine, unburstable, smooth and very economical. It is far more compact and lighter than the Jaguar unit and easier to set up electronically.

But, as they say, it's your funeral so make your choice.

There's a guy on the excel forum who has fitted a supercharged jag engine to his excel, not sure if it's the supercharged v8 or inline 6, if your going to do a jag engine conversion that would be the one i'd put in

I agree with jith - I'm a big Jag fan but for your Lotus I'd be looking elsewhere.

The Audi conversion is well trodden in the Elise and is well proven, I've even seen the Audi V8 in an Espirit but in the Excel I would have thought the Rover V8 or even the Toyota range dependent upon the Excel year.

A good source of knowledge are the lads across on Retrorides HTH.smile
