The headlining in my XJS has started to drop. Has anyone had any experience of these guys. I am considering buying their replacement fibre glass unit. Any idea how easy they are to fit

Not used these guys before but I also know Myrtle Productions make them.... I actually make them also but I will not be able to match the price, I charge about £75+delivery but thats uncovered...
Not too bad to swap over, you will need to remove the passenger seat and lay a towel over your ski slope, the front is held in by the visor screws and rear view mirror, along the sides under the cant rails are some bent over metal tags, awkward because of the size but an easy enough one man job

When people say GRP you think of a plastic type board, but it's not...it's more like loft insulation on a cardboard backing...pretty nasty, I made my own out of plyboard, not an option in your case but I wouldn't re-use the original. That companies replacement looks good. Wheeler dealers changed the headlining on their XJS, might be worth having a look. I can recommend Aldridge Trimming, I used their kit to do the headlining on my XJ. I believe the biggest problem you'll have is getting the new board into the car, I removed the windscreen in my car but I don't think that's an option on the XJS. You will have to retrim the pillars too (the material will practically fall off when you remove them, and will no longer match the headlining once it's been done), it's not difficult but it's very time consuming. When I was removing mine I deliberately broke the metal clips holding the pillars to the car rather then risk pulling the clip through the pillar (it's thin wood, almost like cardboard). Clips are cheap and easy to get hold of, the pillar trims are not.

I would have to disagree with that... GRP stands for Glass Reinforced Plastic which is basically the new term for fibreglass, perfectly good for a headliner and not a bit of cardboard in sightXKRacer said:

Well, OK, it's up to the OP if he wants to re-use something that has already failed once. Lots of Jaguar owners have had problems with their headlining, something is wrong. Did you re-use yours then? How has it been?
The original head lining is fibre board not GRP, these delaminate with time, the problem you get when people try to repair them is it is a short term fix as the glue makes the board heavy and it delaminates deeper in behind the glue. They even use fibre board for the X100 XKs and quite a few owners have started to now have problems....I have a mould to make XJS liners which I did for my own XJS out of GRP, no problem at all now
Fibre Board and GRP and 2 completely different formats, otherwise there would be a lot of soggy TVRs out there
