XKR cruise control

Just curious, but...

Looking at XKRs in the classifieds, there are some that have cruise control listed it the advert text, and have the steering wheel buttons, but not the button on the J gate.

Other earlier and later cars have both the steering wheel buttons AND the J gate button.

Are the adverts incorrect for those without the J gate button, or are there two systems?

As an X308 owner, if it doesn't have the J gate button it doesn't have the steering wheel buttons, so no cruise control - simple!

ETA - this is '99 to '03 cars I've been looking at.

Earlier cars had a button later cars did not, it is as simple as that, you had to "engage" the cruise before hitting the set button, later cars it was on permanent all you had to do was hit set

On mine - 04 XKR - the J Gate Button(s) are sports mode and speed limiter engage.
