XKR X150 questions
Discussion
Morning all,
Thinking about an X150 coupe as a daily driver but slightly concerned about the running costs. A few questions for you.
1. Do all X150 XKR’s have a spare wheel?
2. Does the steering adjust for reach and rake?
3. What is the real world MPG? I do around 17k miles a year, some of which is funded by my employer, but this will still be a significant ownership cost.
4. What are the service costs?
5. Are the CATS dampers robust and how much to repair / replace if they go wrong?
6. I know that the engines are generally very reliable but are there any specific issues to look out for?
7. Was a sunroof available as an option?
My preference would be for black leather as I’m concerned that the ivory would get very grubby very quickly.
Thanks

I've got an 2008 NA XK and have done around 12k miles in 10 months so not far off your rate.
1. Do all X150 XKR’s have a spare wheel?
.......Mine's got a space saver, so presumably yes
2. Does the steering adjust for reach and rake?
......Yup, electrically and stores its position
3. What is the real world MPG? I do around 17k miles a year, some of which is funded by my employer, but this will still be a significant ownership cost.
......We did 330 miles on Sunday at an average speed of 68mph with a return of 26.2 mpg. I have got 30mpg over a 50 mile journey to work, but equally, low 20's when pottering around locally. Over a 5000 mile period, I averaged 27.1 but again, that was doing longer motorway/dual carriageway journeys
4. What are the service costs?
......30k service was £440 inc brake fluid change and new side light fitted (this cost £25 but involved removing the whole headlamp assembly so I was happy to pay!)
5. Are the CATS dampers robust and how much to repair / replace if they go wrong?
......Dunno, not gone wrong for me. Did have a steering column bearing burst but this was replaced under warranty)
6. I know that the engines are generally very reliable but are there any specific issues to look out for?
.......Again, no idea
7. Was a sunroof available as an option?
......There's a big sunroof on the convertible that's fitted as standard
My preference would be for black leather as I’m concerned that the ivory would get very grubby very quickly
...... I've got ivory and it's not really that grubby considering. An amount of blue shading from the jeans but not much else. My seats going a bit shiny though

Morning all,
Thinking about an X150 coupe as a daily driver but slightly concerned about the running costs. A few questions for you.
1. Do all X150 XKR’s have a spare wheel? All except the Portfolio edition which has Alcon Brakes. You can't get a spare to fit the brakes as they are apparently too big!
2. Does the steering adjust for reach and rake? Yes
3. What is the real world MPG? I do around 17k miles a year, some of which is funded by my employer, but this will still be a significant ownership cost. Around town 21mpg on a run with cruise 24-25mpg.
4. What are the service costs? I have bought the car recently but have all service bills from the last 5 years from the previous owner and the average is £300 a year or 10k miles.
5. Are the CATS dampers robust and how much to repair / replace if they go wrong? No idea - good idea to have a warranty on a car like this. Jaguar do one or you could go with Warranty Direct who IMHO are pretty good, i've never had problems with them paying out on my previous BMW's.
6. I know that the engines are generally very reliable but are there any specific issues to look out for? Supercharger whine. Some people change the supercharger oil at around 60k miles and also the sealed for life gearbox oil but I have not - if it aint broke.........
7. Was a sunroof available as an option? No sunroof was ever an option which is a shame as a pano roof would have looked great.
My preference would be for black leather as I’m concerned that the ivory would get very grubby very quickly. Mine has black leather. On the earlier cars there was an option of premium leather which cost around £3500 and its a great option to have.
Thanks
