1996/97 XJS 3.2 sport
Discussion
I have been given the task of selling my father-in-laws Jag.
Owned from new, JAG (Grange Brentwood)service history up to 80k with 1 or 2 independent non specialists services since.....91k on the clock.
Taxed to July, MOT'd till August
I have driven it for a few hours over the past week and it drives perfectly.
Car is spotless, will need 1 new tyre very soon.
Can you guys give me any guidance on value, anything else of note I should know before putting it up.
Many thanks

Are you sure its an XJS?
Only there isn't an 3.2 XJS.
If its a 3.2 Sport then it will either be a XJ6 (Jag internal model number X300) for a 94->96 when they then switched from the straight six to the bent eight and you get XJ8s (X308).
If its an XJS its either a V12 6L jobby and a V12 that is that late is rarer than hens teeth, they were only built to order at the end. Alternatively if is a straight 6 then its a 4L, and for a 96car it would be a "Celebration" run out model, which tend to be worth significantly more than the previous ones. If its an XJS is a couple or convertible? The convertibles are worth a lot more.
If its a 4door then is it a V8 or straight 6? If you look at the bumpers, does the chrome strip go all the way along the top or does it just have chrome inserts in the corners? V8s also normally have a V8 badge between the front and rear doors. You could also, obviously, look under the bonnet.

I'd say more like £1500 maximum, unless it's absolutely immaculate. They're at rock bottom at the moment, and I can't see that changing for a long time, if ever.
I picked up a tidy, but not perfect, XJ6 (not sport) for £1k in December, and I reckon I paid too much. I love it, and I've no regrets, but I should have paid £850 for it.
