XJR suspected TPS Issues
Discussion
I have got some problems with my XJ (X300 XJR) which after a lot of reading on forums i believe is caused by a faulty TPS. The symptoms are a high tickover (between 1000 and 1400rpm) and the car is not really changing gears at the right time (sometimes decides to change down when cruising etc). I have also noticed that when lifting my foot off of the accelerator and coasting the instantaneous MPG reading on the computer never goes above 80 which i believe also points to a TPS issue as it should be showing 99 when coasting.
I don't mind changing the TPS myself but have read that the engine needs setting up by a Jaguar dealer afterwards! I have no idea how much this costs and i would rather not if i can help it, it seems like a right PITA just to change a sensor.
Does anyone have any experience of this? If i change the sensor will it still be drivable until i can get the car 'setup' or will i just have to bend over and get the dealer to do it for me?
Thanks in advance,

I don't know if you read the thread on xjr6.com about recalibrating the tps. There was a lot of info on it. If I were you I'd call David Marks because I know for sure he did work in recalibrating one member's xjr6. At the very least he could point you in the right direction. If you are a member of the JEC you'll find his number in there.
