Locking an '03 XK8 without setting alarm

Oh no, you won't be leaving you dog in the car over the coming summer weeks?
When on a cross channel ferry there isn't much choice! He won't ever be left in a car if the weather is at all warm, unless the hood is down I guess. It is the ferry I am particularly thinking of for the locking issue, however. This may or not be of any use whatsoever on a XK but - if you lock a XJ manually using the key in the door rather than using the remote it locks the car and sets the alarm as usual but does not activate the intrusion detectors, meaning you can leave a dog/child/wife/wild animal to trash the interior whilst you are away.
There's no mention of this in any handbook I've seen but that's how to do it on an XJ.

Thanks Steve, I did try that and the alarm went off so I am guessing it doesn't work in an 03MY X100. There's no mention of this in any handbook I've seen but that's how to do it on an XJ.
I did go to the dealer who said they think that just one press of the remote will not set it, but they weren't sure - really helpful!
