Any one managed to do these without the dealer tool to wind the electric parking brake in.

I've got a set to do, and am looking at the wiring diagram to make up a tool, but if anyone has done it before could help save me a bit of time.

Any help gratefully received.

I don't know whjch S Type you are working on, but on STR with Brembos and separate parking brake the parking brakes can be disengaged by holding the switch down whilst turning the ignition off.

I'll give that a go. Sadly its not an STR, but a 2007 diesel. It used the same caliper and pads for foot and hand brake.

When I worked at the jag dealer we had a tool that bypassed the control module and just powered the H/Brake motor fully in or full out, never done a set of pads without that.

You don't need to do anything to the EPB to change rear pads.
With the EPB off (see post above), just wind the pistons back into the calipers (left hand thread + some force) until you can get the new pads in.
EPB sorts itself out.

if you wind the piston right in and make sure and pump the pedal up before the parkbrake is used u will be ok . i also worked at a jag dealer and found if u use there tool it causes more issues then if u just change the pads as u normally would on any car

Good to know, I remeber I used to road test them first, and bed them in a bit before I dared put the H/Brake on.

At home with no WDS/IDS I cant clear the memenory if it logs a fault, so needed to know the best way to proceed, thanks to all for the input.
