Ah yes, after washing or heavy rain I now get a wet foot in my X300. Is there anything that can be done (apart from spending shedloads of money obviously).

Still, for two grand, I got four years with nothing going wrong, just tyres, battery and petrol, which ain't bad I guess; a monkey a year for a big Jag smile

Time for another, now I need to talk myself out of this one:

I expect it is like the XK8 (X100)

Under the bonnet each rear corner there are boxes with covers, brake servo and ECU live

There is a drain hole at the bottom that gets blocked with leaves etc
They fill uo with water and then it overflows into the car

Unblock them and let the water out

It might be a plenum drainage problem, if you are lucky. The X300 is a facelifted XJ40 - the inner construction of the two cars is the same.

The plenum chamber under the wiper of both cars fills with water if the drain valve gets blocked. This can let water into the front footwells. The drain valve (sometimes called the 'Duckbill' because of its shape) is located on the bottom of the plastic windscreen wiper housing. If the plenum is full of water, then squeezing this will let it out.

The other possibility is that your car has a corroded bulkhead which is no longer watertight. The tops of the plenum cover where it is welded to the inner wing can rust badly on the X300. Unfortunately the rust is all but invisible since it is located under the outer wing. Water that gets in here will end up on your feet.

This is the rust on my XJ40:
