X300 stereo problem
Discussion
My Grandfather has an X300 (I think, its an R reg XJ) and recently the stereo has been playing up.
The CD changer is stuck on an none of the buttons on the fascia work. The LCD display works fine and shows the disc number and track, the lights on the buttons also work, as in the 1-6 buttons light up when that disc is being played.
When I say none of the buttons work, you cannot even turn the thing off or change the volume, it is well and truly stuck on the CD.
Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Not good news, I'm afraid. These control units are well known for failure. Various problems on the pcb, including burnt tracks (from the bulbs) and surface-mount components falling off. Mine refused to acknowledge the CD unit at all. Some of the problems are detailed on Jaglovers with potential fixes. Good luck.
