Anyone have an inexpensive fix for what I was told was a manufacturing defect for '03-'08 S type climate control modules and heater valves? Car just blows hot air. Dealer wants $3,600 US for fix. Car has 87,000 miles, but is otherwise desireable. Trade in money is marginal and I'll keep it before I junk it. PS: Jaguar North America was not very sympathetic.

I expect it is just a valve and or pump, quite common on the XK's

Wouldn't cost THAT to fix

When I was a jaguar tech, we used to have to repair damaged wiring from the climate control module down to the heater valve, it would get corroided and burn through, usually under the headlamp and air filter area. Need a compitant auto electrician to test the feed and ground to the heater valve, (if power and ground are good replace valve) If you have no feed (usualy high resistance so lower than battery voltage) check again at the output from the climate control modulem if its missing from the module then it needs replacing, if you have it at the module but not at the valve wiring need to be repaired or replaced.

Sometimes it was just a broken valve, sometimes the wiring, very rarely it was the module.

Stright forward but quite time consuming expect to pay £800 tops for lengthy diag and search for wiring fault + replair.
