E Type Tyres

Not a Jaguar owner but need some help please. I am writing an article for our club magazine(Lotus Seven Club) which has a 'now and then ' theme. I need to know the tyre size which a mid 60s E Type had- my research so far has established that the oringinal 3.8 had 6.40/15 crossplies- I THINK that radial shod E Types ran 185/15 ? Can any E type owner confirm please?

You are correct. To add to this, the V12 ran the same Dunlop SP Sports as the XJ saloon which was ER70/VR15. Many a scary night I had with my 3.8 E on crossplies in the wet!!
