XJS refreshed, thumbs up or......
Discussion
This spring I finally bit the bullet and had my XJS repainted and freshened up the exterior. Its the original colour (black). I spent a small fortune on details bits like new badges all round, door handle gaskets, windscreen wiper arms, front indicators, headlight washer covers and jets, windscreen seal (the windscreen frame wasn't rusty when the 'screen was removed...phew), etc etc.
The only real changes from standard are
1) The headlight trim bezels I painted a satin/semi-gloss black (originally chromed plastic)
2) The upper grill was replaced by a Jaguar sport style one with the horizontal strip between the headlights in satin black
3) I had a set of original wheels powdercoated black and silver to a more 80's TVR style paint scheme.
I'm very happy with the outcome, sort of a more Darth Vader look to it?
Comments welcome.
I live is South Carolina and front number plates are not a legal requirement (nor are MoT's!)

Thanks for the comments.
Pinstripes? Never really thought about it, but I like the plain look sides.
Engine? Actually its a 4.0 AJ6 engine, with a manual gearbox. The manual option is quite rare here in the US, only offered around '93-94. I still need to detail up the engine bay. The car has 101,000 miles on it. I think the only option it doesn't have is the CD player.
Coupes are very few and far between, convertibles way outstripped them in sales.

Have I opened her up? Hmmmm, not so much in first off the line, but once on the move in 2nd 3rd and 4th yes and by today's standard it doesn't seem that fast. Here in the US a new 'mommy-van' can give me a good run for my money off the lights, but maybe I'm not trying..... lol. Its just not that sort of car. Its nice to gently squeeze the pedal once up to speed and feel it pull harder. From about 3,000rpm it does waken up. I have taken it around a track day once which was fun.
I am surprised at how many compliments I do get for the car, the first question usually being what year is it and a lot are surprised its (relatively) old. The other day I came out of an attendant car park and when I handed the female attendant my ticket, she said "That will cost you the keys to a black Jaguar, sir". Nice one!
