Hello all smile Have searched but can't really find much?

My Dad has owned his X300 for 13 years and it's getting a bit tired now. He's looking to replace with the newer shape (although he's not keen on the looks compared to the old car) and a bit of hunting about has revealed that XJR's seem to be available in his budget. Are these cars likely to be a disaster waiting to happen? I know Jags always lose a lot of value but are these cars going to be sheds and worth avoiding in favour of a normal 4.2 or 3.5? These are two examples we are going to look at:

He favours the blue one as it's newer and looks prettier.

Looks good, shouldn't be an issues with the R's

Thanks, the miles wouldn't be a concern at all would they? I'm assuming not but is there anything that should have been changed by that point?

Is there much to look for above and beyond the normal issues that is specific to the R? Sorry for all the questions, don't want my Dad to get a shonky car on my advice biggrin

Check the paintwork for blistering around the 'A' and 'C' pillars, around the boot rear window, bottom of the doors. The X350 has paint adhesion/corrosion issues on the alumunium, also some cars have had Jaguar approved resprays to try to correct the problem. I've seen X350 cars as late as 57 plate with the dreaded blistering.
The 2005 car is realistically priced if a bit high on mileage, room to negotiate, lovely colour.

The V8 engine is more or less bullit proof these days

I would advise haveing the gearbox oil changed though, also the supercharger oil changed
There is an easy way to do that, give me a email if you get the car
