I have a 2001 3.0 SE V6 which is currently sitting on a set of MAK Performance Volare Mirror 20 spoke 19" wheels which are shod with Kumho 235/35ZR19's.

TBH i dont like the wheels & i think the car would look better on a set of slightly less fussy 18's.

Also, according to the MAK website, the Volare Mirror is not suitable for my car - anyone out there able to confirm this?

The spare is a standard 17" 5 spoke 225/45ZR17 which is just plain ugly.

Had a look this morning at a set of FOX FX4005 18's shod with a set of Nankang 235/40/18 tyres which i can get for £799.00 & set of Zito Blazer 18's shod with a set of Nankang 235/40/18 tyres which i think look a lot better.

I also rather like the ZCW ZM5 18" which, with a set of Nankang 235/40/18YR's, work out at £759.00 delivered.

The 19's are too big i think so would i be better of with 17's or 18's?

I have been to two local tyre companies today (neither being kwik fit!) & both said that 18's would be better for the car.

Not bought new wheel before so need some help & assistance please.

I have just been told that i should be running 225/40/18's so is anyone able to confirm which is the correct size?

Still confused by tyre sizes as according to the AA website the original tyre's on my car would have been 16's with an option to upgrade to 17's when the car was originally specced.

As the spare is a 17, a 225/45/ZR/17 to be precise, i am confused still further as more than one person has said i should be running 225/40/18's.

A call to my local Jaguar dealer met with the response 'its an 11 year old car so why are you calling us?'

I replied 'because you are my local main agent & i need some assistance'. Reply to that was ' will be buying a car from us in the near future?'

My response was 'no' & their reply was 'sorry we cannot be of assistance' & the call was terminated!!!

wkers.

So can anyone confirm what size tyres i should be running - i'm guessing 17's to match the spare - however i need to know for sure & also would i be better off with Nankangs or Falkens?

Also does anyone know from where i can get a set of Fox FX005's from urgently?

I've had 2 X TYPE 2.5 sports from new, the default wheel size changed over the years:-

2003 MY came with 17inch as standard

2006 MY came with 18inch Aruba as standard .

Preference I actually liked the 17inch, returned car after 3 years not a scratch on the alloys as a decent sidewall, 18 inch all four wheels scuffed winin weeks, not just kerbstones, but mild potholes with such skinny sidewalls the 18 inch 225/40 R18 easily scuff rims.

Should have added that i have gone back down to 17's as per the original specced size of my car. The spare is a 17 & i never really understood why the previous owner fitted a set of 19's.

Had the 17" Fox's fitted this morning - they look great on the car. Took her for a blast along the M5 to see how she handled.

I was amazed at the difference in the road holding - seemed more sure footed than on the 19's with less road noise so time will tell. So far so good.

Now to sell the MAK's. Dreading using fleabay tbh so hopefully the ad i am about to put on PH classifieds will get them sold.
