Mine starts up at 2000 also for a few seconds then drops to about 1200 then to about 800 after one minute. I would prefer it not to rev as high on start up. Cold engines and wear rates etc. Car's just been serviced which didn't change anything.
I'd guess the idle control valve defaults to fully open till it registers revs so the engine effectively gets a bit of a bootfull as it first turns over? Seems common on most injected cars I've driven tbh.
The X308 does this too - though not to any great extent. It's purpose is to speed up the heating of the upstream lambda sensor to get the cold start emissions down as quickly as possible.
