Lets get as many engines on here as possible.... I'm sure everyone has a clean detailed exterior but lets see your power plants. No prizes for the best one, just nice what state everyone keeps their engine bay in. I'll start...

not fair to start off with a V12, as everything after that looks inadequate!

here a couple of mine (the better ones- others are mid progress or dirty)

well, i haven't gone overboard with the autosol, but its had a good going over.
its not perfect by a long shot, as none of mine are low milers, but you have to do the best with what you got (without bankrupting yourself)

My SIII. The bonnet was off as the hinge panel had fractured, so it seemed ideal to get a photo.

Interesting air pipe Norman, what's the story there and is there any benefit? I notice it is lacking the branches which i believed broke up the airflow or created some kind of turbulence. Saying that one of mine dropped off and melted and is now gaffered up, not making any difference!!

Hi Darren
difficult to say, this one has the top pulley mod
i dont have the cone filter on my other XJR but that has had the bottom pulley mod, the power delivery is different, but im not sure if the cone filter has anything to do with it.
i bought the car from Zippyworld and he might be able to give you a better view on the benefits if any.
looks nice though doesnt it

Amungst other mods I had the old type Mass Air Flow Meater so changed that for the later one, that neaded a Black Box to fool the ECU that things hadn't changed
This give a much improoved air flow, I then changed to this tubing again to take out the air resriticions

I couldn't say that the improvements are on their own though but it looks a lot better
I can supply both conversions if required

With the cone filter you are pulling in HOT air, that's the last thing you want
Any benifit will be un-done at least twice over

hi :-)
if thats the case why would anyone do it? ive seen these in quite a few cobras.
are you saying i should revert to the original system?
what exactly does pulling hot air against cold air have against it?
sorry i am not informed or mechanically minded.
im just going to see if i google some info
thanks for that

Under the miss comprehension that they give better air flow, good advertising

First you are loosing out on the high pressure area under the wing
Can prove that, on the XK8R there is a panel to take out to replace the headlight bulb,
the number of times they fly out if you go over the Ton

Cold air is denser than hot air so if you suck the under bonnet air into the engine you are again loosing power

Look at the lengths that many race cars go to keep the intakes away from the engine.
