Now call me cynical but...
How does the low brake pad warning work? They used to be on wires in the pads but I suspect something a little underhand...

At my last service, I was called to advise that my pads were more than 70% worn and did I want them changing. I said no. Now the car had never displayed a low pad warning before and has covered only 20 000 miles. After my service, as soon as the ignition is on, the "Low Pad" warning comes on. I looked at the pads and there is quite a bit of meat left, not what I'd call too low.

The dealer wouldn't program the system to display the message to tempt me into getting them changed, would they? Mmm and if I changed the pads I wonder if the message would still get displayed as it is artificially generated rather than a true warning?

Trying it on or am I just overly suspicious...
Now I am getting bloody annoyed with it needing accepted every time I start the car.

I suspect Dealer trickery.

Early XFs went through rear pads very quickly .. Pad replacement is simple and the system will need re setting once the pads have been changed but this again is an easy DIY prospect
