Will looking at adverts for X300/X308s I saw this S3 V12 Sovereign & it's what I've always thought of as a 'true XJ' which I think is just because it's the first shape car I knew as a Jag when I was a nipper.

So tell me, how bad is the MPG really on these? I'm guessing it'd only make 20mpg downhill & get to single figures rather easily?

I've been thinking about these for a while. It is the 5.3 SIII V12 I have been really wanting but I can't part with the XJR 308. Everytime I think about I weep. A real smooth ride but the mpg is a killer. Have a wee look here for the specs http://www.jaguarxj.info/JAGUAR%20XJ%20SERIES%20II...
I've had the company of a SIII V12 since my dad bought it new in 85. He managed to get 21 MPG on a run, but then he was an extreamley delicate driver. The car has been modified in the last 10 years, I have put straight through exhaust in replacement of the centre box, enlarged and plumbed in the air feed to the bulk head and changed the ECU. On the way to Le Mans, whilst in convoy with my mates painfully slow 912, set at 75 on cruise I got an amazing 24 MPG....... On the way back, unleashed and in convoy with some faster porkers, TR 512, etc etc, I managed 8!!!! We did see 147 on the sat nav though, but she revelled at this speed... You cant buy a V12 and run it on a shoe string.. my wife always complains at how much I spend on this every spring... rememeber when new a proper service cost over a grand... buy one without rust and have fun.
Just seen the advert! Lovely Silver Birch and red interior, quite unique. Make sure the dealer has not just brushed ober the rust, take a specialist to give it the once over. At this age you will in time need to change every single ancillary, water pump, steering, suspension, etc etc.... here's mine...

I often think your V12 looks superb. The XJ40 16" lattices really suit it, as does the colour. It looks to be in lovely condition.
Thank You dbdb, Took a long time to get the offsets sorted for the 16" lattices, the colour is a mixture of Silver Birch and Rodium silver, placed over a dark base coat, so its not as gold as it could be but certainly retains the Jaguar feel. Sorry if I keep posting pictures of her, but I can't help it!!!Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

they can stay on the wishlist a bit longer then.
