You did charge the battery up before fitting it, didn't you? S-Types don't like flat batteries.

If it's an auto have you tried wiggling the gearstick? That's helped on a few autos I've known.

Oh I'm sure the garage is talking crap. As far as I'm aware any serious fault that occurs within six months is deemed to be present at the point of sale and their problem to fix.

Cheers guys, ye that battery was charged, tried it with the box in nutral too, no luck, the Mrs dripped and cleaned the fob, said it looked like it had coke spilled on it, gave it a clean, also disconnected the car battery for few hours.put all bk together and it started, hopefully it was one of them has done it, and it's just not still being temperamental, done some looking up on the garage thing and they are in the wrong legal but they don't seeit that way, but whenever they, what ya think guys, sorted? Cheers

Sounds like a loose terminal on your battery to me. Good luck with the car. S Types are by and large pretty good.

On the garage front they are just trying it on. Sale of goods act is your friend. Andy serious fault within 3 months they are in the frame to fix it.

I have an XJ8 bought end of aug. Within 2 weeks it was suffering all sorts of electrical gremlins. I have kept of log of the faults and had some fixed but the remaining problems seem to be elusive. So I'm returning it to the dealer next week for their pet garage to have a look at it. Outcome will be either its fixed or they buy the car back off me. And we are now 2.5 months post purchase.

Make sure you list and log each time a fault occurs. I have given this log to the dealer along with a video showing the fault happening and they didnt argue at all. If the worst happens its good evidence in court.

He they are just at it mate, I'm going to see them tomorrow my self,

On the car though, it done it again today. Total pita, how ever I starting to think it's related to the immobiliser or the sort anyway, as there is a red light that comes on, on the top of the dash where the sensor for the fob is,when the car won't start the light stays on in it, but when I did get it working the light is off, also when it won't start, I hear and can feel two of the relays in the eng bay clicking but obviously it won't turn, any, more thoughts guys? Cheers, it also has other problems but ill post on another thread, cheers again
