XKR alarm problem

The b!?!?y thing is always going off! A bit of rain or wind sets it off and it's driving me mad!

Any way of making it less sensitive? It a 2009 5ltr model.

I'll take it in next week if I have to but Hartwells in Bristol are not my favourite dealership! Was hoping I could deal with it myself. Then again I assume its covered under the warranty so why should I deal with it.

It maybe an issue of the way it has been wired in. A friend has had the same problem but had to take it in to Jaguar. I had a BMW that did that. Frustrating and Annoying.

Give Grange Jaguar in Swindon a try instead. It's a warranty issue so get it sorted.

Always been an issue as fair as I know. Spoke with the dealer on a number of occasions and they could not cure it, so would appreciate any feedback as to a solution as my neighbours hate me :/

Going into the dealer next week so I'll see what they say. The problem always seems to be the volumetric sensor.

Its gone off 5 times in under an hour this evening.

My neighbours must think I'm a right tw@t!

I'm going to take it to Jaguat tomorrow and demand they at least have a quick look at it.

Have you tried unlocking the car with the key and turning the ignition on - without silencing the alarm? I had this problem with my XJR and doing that generated the "bonnet open" warning on the message centre. That told me that even though the bonnet was closed the alarm thought it was open and that generated the activation. The problem was in fact a faulty bonnet open/closed sensor which was easily fixed (or should I say easily bypassed)

The car has been back to Jaguar again and they have now diagnosed a faulty volumetric sensor in the dashboard - this is a known problem according to one of the guys I spoke to.

Hopefully once the sensor is replaced peace will be restored! (They have currently turned off the sensors apparently)

Mine has just started doing this too but at the same time I have noticed that my steering wheel does not lock itself sometimes and this is when the alarm goes off once I lock the car and walk away. If the steering locks then the alarm does not seem to go off.

Collected my car today from Hartwells Bristol after they changed the volumetric sensor in the dash. Within a hour of being home the sodding alarm went off!

Going back in to have the other volumetric sensor replaced next week!

If that doesn't fix then I'm going to torch the bl@@dy thing

The alarm on these cars is a complete pain in the A@*'E. I gave up and sold mine. I couldn't leave it at our place in Edinburgh through the week without worrying about it going off and justifiably annoying the neighbours. My XJ8 however can be left for weeks without any problem. Official dealer couldn't do anything to help, or wouldn't!. Apparently it's a well known problem

You are doing nothing to ease my concern that it's design fault!

If Jaguar don't sort it then I too want rid. Out of interest, how do you know it's a well known fault?

It's common that electric gremlins appear in these cars when the battery starts to get tired.
Not knowing how your car has been used or if left for long periods without a battery conditioner, it maybe worth taking a look at the battery.

This is not going to help but I can leave mine several weeks at a time and it has never gone off!

Well I guess it at least gives me hope that it might able to be cured....although at this rate it could well take them until September when they will probably talk me into a XKR-S while I wait for the hard top F Type

The other volumetric sensor was replaced today so fingers crossed it will solve the problem.

The battery is apparently ok.

Hi! Sorry for resurrecting an old topic, but did this issue get fixed in the end? I've got a similar problem with my 5.0 XKR and the dealer seems stumped.
