Much excitement here today when we received the Detroit motorshow F Type at the dealership. We are keeping the car for a couple of weeks and then it will appear at the Indianapolis Auto Show before leaving for Detroit. The car has a restrictor on it limiting speed to 20 MPH and it is not to be taken on the road (for obvious resons, would be a bit embarrassing if the star of the Detroit Auto Show failed to make it. hehe)

It looks gorgeous, the cabin has a great feel about it and the sounds are like no other Jag I have heard, including the XKR-S.

looks great. But the off-set "s" badge in the grill is the only thing I'd change. It looks like it doesnt belong there,

Funnily enough I was stood looking at it a few minutes ago and I agree. Still, if that's it's biggest fault.. biggrin

The v6 exhaust sound is nice. Don't know how they got that through legislation! Shame there isn't an n/a version though.

I think it was Hilton Holloway in Autocar recently who was disappointed with the finish of the car he saw. Iirc he was not too sure of the wheelbase either - too short I believe!

Hope he's wrong

Wheelbase is fine, only 5in less than an XK and the car sits well. These cars are all pre production so you have to make allowances for finish. Even so this one is gorgeous and the finish is excellent. It's already been mauled at the LA Auto Show but you wouldn't know it.

I believe the boot (trunk) is rather small - shallow?

Strange request perhaps for a sports car but how is the car for boot/ trunk space? Is it g0lf bag friendly? If there is any chance of a picture it would be greatly appreciated.

7 cu ft. It's not huge.. A colleague is convinced it will take a set of gold clubs. I'm less sure.. A set is being bought in on Monday to test the theory.

Pretty disappointed with that. I wanted the F-Type as my weekend special toy, but once the crazy pricing came out that rapidly changed to a daily driver, now it's impractical as well as expensive it's a 991 for me. frown
