i recently got an airbag fault light pop up on the dash and after some advice took my xk to a jaguar dealership for identification of the fault. it identified the air bag module as faulty with the power to the unit ok. jaguar couldn't supply a replacement unit as they are on back order with no supply date.
i have sourced a second hand unit from euro jag , fited it and taken the car back to the jag dealers for setting up to my car. the service guy said when i booked it in today that the unit may not be able to set it up as if it is from a vehicle that has deployed the air bags the unit will not allow the jag dealers equipment to set it up. as anyone come across this before as i need to sort it as the mot is due soon and the faulty unit will result in a test failure

I wouldn't think Euro Jag would send a unit out that had been deployed

I'm sure you would be safe in using it

Just dealers don't like using second hand parts

If the airbag module has previously deplyed, the cover would be split and the bag itself would be hanging out.

I think you can safely assume that your replacement has not beem deployed.

I believe i had the same fault code on my S Type when i bought it. My dad (mechanic for >10 years) took the clock spring out/ off and gave it a clean and hey presto, no more warning light. I suspect you should try the same.
It cost me nothing (free labor)
No idea of the process though, but i believe the fault code was b2293 search for that and you will find loads of threads on various forums.
Did you get a diagnostics read out of the code?
