I cant afford it, but i really want it.
If it is still for sale mid this coming year, and i have the money, it may just become mine. Would the millage instantly put you off?
Bare in mind i do like to rev a car hard, but only when warm.
I know it all depends on how its been cared for.
Assuming it has been lovingly looked after.
Edit: Also for sale on this site.

No, I wouldn't be put off. If I were in the market for a new smoker, it would be top of the list. There are only a handful of these around, and they very rarely come up for sale. I'm surprised it's stayed on so long - I can only imagine it's the milage.

These will last well if looked after. The Getrag gearbox is very strong, as are the straight 6s. The Superchargeed can get through head gaskets, but well maintained this should be good for another 220,000 miles easily.

It sold on Ebay for £1950, I think.

I was bidding but internet threw a wobbler at the crucial moment and I missed-out.....

£2k?!? frown this makes me really sad.
So much want, i wish i was a little richer.
Thats a steal for £2k, i suspect it will be worth alot more than that in a few years, being a manual and all.

Suspect it's just the trim missing.

Yep, just the trim missing, but you would have thought that the dealer would replace such a cheap part.

yes, Arun had that advertised at £3k for ages, atleast 6 months.
one round on ebay and sold for for £1950, as was said already.
lets face it mileage is one of the largest factors in determining the price of a vehicle, as well as condition and rarity of course (In this case).
a couple of these do come up fro sale each year usually.
if you really want one, i would suggest have your cash ready, and keep scoring the net. so when one does come up you can move on it pronto.
there is another for sale, but it will be around 3x this price

I saw this car in the flesh and drove it, it was very tired and made some interesting noises

hardly surprising after so many miles, and i imagine quite hard driven miles as most fast manual jags will be.
was it still worth £2k you reckon?

You can spend over £400 a corner on shocks, springs and tyres in parts alone, never mind labour. Plus manifolds are usually cracked, fuel pumps get weak (and they're in the fuel tank), O2 sensors have a limited lifespan, not to mention rust in all kinds of places.

The engine is likely to be trouble free, but there's plenty else to drain the pocket if you want to make it right.

Ask me how I know smile

I can only hope the new owner embarks on a foolish restoration project and makes it as new. These glorious cars deserve to be saved.
