Hi...I have bought a set of 5 Pirelli P600 235 x 60 x R15 98 V .....with 15'' Jag lattice wheels...the tyres are virtually brand new...I estimate that they have done no more than 50 miles...so still around 8mm tread...ironically, I may not need them now...

anyway, I am just trying to understand the date code....it reads :

'928A 10235 05 T1 5061'

Does that mean they were made in the 50th week of 2011?...any help appreciated...

I think the date code will more likely be a three digit one e.g. 093 i.e. week 9 of 1993 or less likely 2003.

You really ought to give Pirelli technical service a call.

What I do know is that those tyres were used on early XJS sportspacks, they changed over to Goodyear tyres when they were the tyre to run in the World Sportscar championship, later XJS sportspcks ran 16" P600 tyres on the forged lattice wheels, they then changed to 16" Dunlops.

Not sure if that is the date code but you are on the right lines.... It is the 61 that bothers me, it is not like number plates if it was 2011 it would say 5011 meaning 50th week of 2011 not 61 unless they are from the future!

My Pirelli PZeros had the date stamp 2708 in a small oval indent which the tyre place confirmed was manufacture week 27, 2008.

You're looking in the wrong place. It's a 4 digit code (unless it's a 3 digit, implying 1990s...).

For instance this week is week 8, that would be 0813.

The date code's only on one sidewall, so check both sides.

P600s are still produced, but only in 235-60ZR15. I know that the Tire Rack in the US stocks them and they won't sell out of date tires.
