Well I've been determined to get a nice Jag for myself for a few years now. However my finances are fairly volatile and each time I've been about to put the cash down, something's come up and for various reasons it's not happened. First it was an XKR when they were giving them away during the financial crisis, then with family considerations an X-type estate was looking on. Then I was lucky enough to go on a Jaguar driving day at Elvington airfield and came away determined to get an XFS (also did pushing 170 down the straight in both an XKR and XFR and watched England in the World Cup on an XJ tv screen! Great fun).

So I've still not owned one but I keep checking the classifieds and playing with the Jaguar Car configurator just so I'm ready if the opportunity arises (I can't be the only one surely)!

Anyway I noticed used XFRs had come down to around £22-£25k which seemed a real bargain so thought I'd check Drivethedeal just to see what they are going for new these days. I came away rather shocked to see you can get one for just over £46k. I logged out and in again to check that was right. Flipping 'eck. Is that a bargain or what for such a classy rocket ship. I don't buy new (except company cars) but that would sorely tempt me.

But in the spirit of research I was wondering what options are usually considered de riguer on the XFR. It seems to come pretty well loaded anyway but there are some meaty options listed (e.g. Black pack, Speed packs etc) which would jack the price up somewhat.

So what options if any would you get or have you got?

IMHO, you just need to choose the interior & exterior colour. The black pack is just a preference & not really required.

Me, I love sunroofs & a heated steering wheel....., but can live without either.

I have a used 2009 model on my forecourt for 25. as new out the box they're pretty well equipped. I think the black pack really suits it. If you want to be a bit loud in the visual department the dynamic pack looks good too.

Thanks for the replies gents.

Yes Benbay, I think that's looking favourite (it's still virtual but you never know!). Just checking I wasn't missing anything.

Hi Triple7, I think you advised me on the X-type estate all those years ago although I didn't get one in the end. I recognise your fantastic Jag full "garage". Looks like you've gone to the Porsche dark side now! Always enjoy your posts from experience though. Thanks.

Stuperbulous, nice name, could be the next Jag model! Selling this great range of cars must be an easy job! I prefer to go under the radar so don't think the Dynamic Pack would be for me. Cheers.

Just seen there have been other fairly recent threads on the XFR (Doh!) even mentioning the £46k (it seems there's a catch with the finance, which I wouldn't want). So I'm behind the curve again. Heyho.
