X Type 2.5 Auto Transmission Control Module

Hello Jaguar chaps.

I'm looking for some help for my Dad. He has a Jaguar X Type 2.5 Automatic. He has had some problems with the automatic gearbox and although they were once fixed, a new problem has reared its head. The garage he always goes to told him that it's the transmission control module and all he needs to do is get a replacement.

Brand new from Jag this part is £500.

On eBay however, refurb you can get it for £50.

So he orders one from Jo Jags LTD on eBay, it gets delivered and the garage say it doesn't work. They send it back to Jo Jags and Jo Jags send them back another one. The garage say it doesn't work and send it back. Jo Jags are CONVINCED it should work and we're not sure what to do. My Dad really can't afford to fork out another £500 - any advice?

The part we need is apparently:

Auto Gearbox ECU
1x43-72401-AG
FJ6QU78G 2.5L
31036PL013
ETC-J-313A11628

I have found another variation on eBay, everything above is idental apart from the last 2 numbers of the last line which are 13 rather than 28, would that make a difference?

Any help/advice/direction would be massively appreciated by both me and my old man.

He is based just south or Reading so not too far away RG40 4TS

That's quite far away from where the Jag is currently sitting without a fully functioning gear box. However, it'd be great if he could advise, would that be alright?

He can collect if neads be
