XFR and XKR e Diff fault
Discussion
Guys N Girls - HELP
My XFR e diff light comes on occassionally. The guys at Jag have not come across any faults and I do not want the dealer to get hold of the car and rub his hands together with glee at my plight!
The light comes on typically after the car has been run and the diff is hot. Not always bu occassionally. However today I noticed an altogether worse occurance. The car was scuffing one wheel when turning slowly in either forward or reverse. My son said it best - It feels as though the rear of the car is hopping at slow turning speed and you can hear this "wind up" kind of noise! If this was a RWD rally car with a tight LSD then the characterisitics are the same.
Could it be the e diff is locking the diff at slower speeds in error. When this hopping occured the fault was not flagged. The handbook says the car is safe to drive once the ight comes on but this slow speed scuffing affair is not very nice.
Any ideas?

Many thanks. Will get it changed when I have the sc belt and plugs done in the next few weeks.
I will also get my rally diff man to take a look to see if he can give it a once over..
Strange that Jag have no knowledge of e diff faults but I guess there are few 5.0l "R's" with over 100k on the clock

I had this warning appear on my 2009 XKR 5.0l last year after only 10k miles. Jaguar diagnosed it as needing new ediff motor needed. The part was £650 and a couple of hours labour. fortunately my warranty co paid out without argument. Just to note I didn't notice any symptoms other than you could not operate the paddleshift. and the warning light was always on. Have sold the car since as I had a couple of other niggles which you should not expect of a car that low mileage and cost and had lost confidence in it
