I did it -- bought a MY07 XJ8 in White Onyx two weeks ago. It was a one-owner car that's done 58K miles and was traded in on a new XJ. I bought it from the Jaguar dealer. It was very well kept and properly serviced, and it looks and feels nearly new. I've always like these cars, and it's my first "modern" Jaguar, having had some old ones. I really like it.

Apologies for the poor phone-pics and the horrible background (and I wouldn't have added the chrome to the B-pillars), but here it is:

Thanks to everyone who answered my questions about what to look (and look out) for.

Very nice indeed.

I have a 2007 XJR and it's a really good drive. Love it.

Enjoy! :-)

Well done, it looks great. There are very few white ones in the UK. Enjoy

An excellent choice sir. I've never seen a white one but I notice you are stateside so perhaps that's why!

Thanks everyone. White has been very popular in the States for many years now, but this is my first white car. It's really an off-white, more like an ivory, and I think it suits the car very well. I'm enjoying learning the car, reading through the owner's manual, and I'm looking for a MY07 sales brochure.

It's truly amazing value (assuming it proves reliable smile) -- an astounding amount of car for the money. It's in really fantastic condition, and it's likable and appealing in a way that a big German or Japanese sedan just isn't, IMO.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how to polish the bright trim around the windows? It's not bad, but it's a bit tarnished, and I'd love to clean it up.

I use a polish called Autosol for bright work, it does a great job of bringing chrome up and sorting tarnish etc. very nice car by the way, that's the first white one I've seen. Enjoy.

What is the gadget below the heater controls, on my car and all the others I have seen it is the ashtray & cigarette (sorry, cigar) lighter. You appear to have a control panel for something ?

Also, can't quite work out from the pics, do you have a glass sunroof ?

Pete,
Thanks for the suggestion, and the compliment.

Russell,
It's satellite radio (dealer installed when new, I believe), and yes, a glass sunroof.

Of course it will be reliable! Don't worry! Great car and it looks good in white.

smile I'm not actually worried about it, but thanks for the good words. I'm still amazed that such a (relatively) small amount of money bought so much car, and in such great condition.

That chrome on the B pillars is aftermarket stuff, and as such may be poor quality and not polish up well at all. Hopefully the black trim below hasn't been damaged by having it fitted!

I believe it's dealer-installed, and it's actually in very good condition, but I'd rather it wasn't there. I'd remove it, except I'm worried about how the black finish is underneath. Open to suggestions...
