Picking my xfr up this morning....

2009 plate in black from HA Fox in Guildford.
4 doors, v8 - sensible motoring!
Seriously looking forward to it and the sun is even trying to come out!
Might be looking for a sports exhaust in the near future, from what I have read. Any recommendations from the PH knowledge?

I had mine for just over 12 months, changing it for a Mercedes this January. This was what I was after in the first place but couldn't find one with the right spec at the time.
I enjoyed the Jag while I had it, but it initially seemed to be lacking "something".
Then I put the Spires back boxes on it.
Total transformation. Turns a sedate saloon into a NASCAR sound-a-like. Beautiful noise, yet can still be driven discretely if you feel the need to. The pops and bangs on the down shifts are amazing, and yet there is no drone as such, unlike some after-market products.
Go for it OP, and have some fun in an awesome car but, if you have any immediate neighbours, buy them some flowers or something in advance.

I'm in two minds regarding the Spires. I'd like the noises to be a bit more blatant 'V8' but the subtlety and sleeper nature of the stock car appeals too. It's warming up here and I've had a chance to use S and dynamic a bit more, and it seems more rorty - may be placebo. The summer wheels are being fitted tomorrow so before I get Spires to send me some metal I'll take some more time to explore the car over some suitable roads as it is. I've had only mine since the start of the year. It's a 2011 with less than 20k miles.

I need to check whether the exhaust would invalidate jaguar's warranty. Losing that would be a high price to pay for an enhanced soundtrack.
Will investigate and report back....
No worries about the Jaguar warranty, changing the boxes won't make a difference, I bought my car new 7 months ago, I hated the muted sounds of the engine so when it was 7 days old, I fitted Quicksilver rear boxes (same as spires) and have never looked back since. Will investigate and report back....
The above was done after consulting the supplying dealership

Waste no more time and release the vocals of that mighty V8, enjoy.........
Nice purchase, let's see some pics
I've got a 4.2 XKR and had the Spires "stage 1" exhaust fitted recently. This basically changes out the middle sections of the stock exhaust which contain 2 small silencers, the Spires replacement has no silencers and has a crossover section. The stock back box(es) is retained. This increased volume by about 15 to 20% when giving it a bit of throttle I'd say, on cruising on low throttle the car is still nice and civilised, just has more bark when you want it to.
Just looked on the Spires website and they do now offer the stage 1 for XFRs for about £512, I'd say that would be a good first change if you don't want to go too noisy to start with - I'm certainly happy with mine, wouldn't want it any louder. Especially on cold starts
