XJR long brake pedal

The pedal travel on my XJR seems quite long, the pads are OK and the braking efficiency test on the MOT was fine. Is this on of those 'They all do that sir...' moments or is there a known problem?

Brakes have never been up to the power IMHO, but despite needing some serious foot work, have never experienced a long travel, perhaps a visit to a specialist - sorry can't be of more help
