Hi, I found you guys really helpful when I bought an XJR a few years ago, and as a result had a couple of years of trouble free motoring, no depreciation and awesome performance. Am now weighing up the pros and cons of either XjS or XJC, both have been on my list to buy for a while, as I think both look fantastic. I intend to go for a good quality example of either and am up to speed with prices etc.

If anyone has experience of both cars or any views of the relative pros and cons I would be happy to hear them.

Thanks in advance.

No pros or cons, they're both really old steel-bodied cars now. They can be completely stuffed and only fit for the scrapyard,

or not.

Buy the best one you can afford.

And hope for the best.

Any attempt to save money here is likely to cost you more :-)

I saw a couple of lovely XJCs at the weekend at the Hambledon show, one guy had an XJC12 with a manual box, the Watjags conversion he said, which should make it more fun and go rather better.
A late XJS is probably more usable, the last one were galvanised, but they can still rust.
Very late V12 convertibles are like rocking horse droppings, I wish I'd bought one new when I was offered one of the last batch.

personally it was the XJC for me, albeit in need of floorpans and sills! look at how many XJS's are out there and the variation of models and prices. To me there doesnt seem to be any consistency in cost, almost whatever someone wants to give for any particular car.

The C is a rarer car, the Daimler variant rarer still, and a more practical coupe,4 proper seats. oh, and that profilecloud9

Practical Classics have earmarked the XJC as "the next big thing"! , not sure how big but there are concours cars asking £45,000! Quentin Wilson has also tipped these as up & coming.

Out of interest there is a "Wheeler Dealer" car advertised here http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C494712
has this episode been shown yet as i havent seen it? Guessing it hasnt as there would be none of the "'old ouuutcher 'and" bit to close the show!!

Thanks for that, agree the XJC is just a bit more special, and just fantastic to look at it. Either car wouldn't see heavy use but I do like to drive the cars I own rather than just look at them. Any advice appreciated.

Hi,i own a daimlar double six coupe which ive owned since 1989 so you could say i no it by now,its a great car but with all of these coupes the main BIG problem is rust and i mean all over in place,s you wouldn,t expect so be on your guard when buying one.Body panel for coupes are getting hard to find now as are trim parts, most mechanical part can still found im glad to say.good luck with which one you chose.

Doesn't suit everyone but I love that colour.

Had an XJ6 and a V12 E-type in it.
