XKRS owners talk to me!
Discussion
I can't speak about the XKR-S per se, but I have driven (and bought) its engine and the old 4.2 engine so can directly compare those.
If you liked the 4.2 AJ-V8, you will love the 5.0 which is very impressive in standard 510ps form but a bit more so in 550ps form - not so much that you really notice the extra 40ps but more that it comes with no penalties. It does everything better than the 4.2 (which I regarded as a great engine itself) and uses less fuel in to the bargain which although not really a major concern for a car of this sort is still welcome.
The car I've bought has nicked the odd XKR-S suspension part such as the revised front uprights which do make a difference, as does the active diff over the standard XFR in my case.

Quite simply it is stunning. It never fails to put a smile on my face. Mine is French Racing blue. Sounds amazing, goes like a bat out of hell. Buy one. You will not regret it.
hit the nail on head stunning cars.....i also have one in french racing blue.....of all the cars i have owned this gets the most attention by a milewill purr like a pusssycat.......but press the loud pedal and several tigers are unleashed

If the revised front uprights and active diff make as big a difference on the XK as they do on the XF that inherited them then I'd be inclined to say yes. I'm sure there's an RS owner here who has driven the R too. Certainly the XFR-S makes the XFR look like a raft by comparison.
X100 XKR-S examples still command a premium over XKRs too and I'd be astonished if the X150 XKR-S did not retain value better than an XKR also.
