X-type EGR system and OBD2 scanner

Been having a problem with stalling after start-up, rough idle, stalling at junctions etc but no warning lights (other than flashing glow plug AFTER stalling). Hooked up an OBD2 scanner and no codes but getting red cross/incomplete by EGR system (get green tick on my Volvo XC90) I am guessing this mean something wrong with EGR rather than an incompatibly with scanner?

I think its the same set up as the Mondeo, assuming its a 2.2 then the EGR almost seems like its a consumable. First step would be to take it out and clean it.

It's the 2.0l but yes seems like common problem. Will try to take it off and have a look.
