XF steering rack leak

Hi

Any advice on a leaky rack? 2011 V6, appears to be leaking from N/S tie rod end, initial enquires saying £900 for recon rack + fitting.

Sounds about right for a main dealer. Exchange units aren't always available and a new rack is another £500. Labour is around £300 plus fluids and wheel alignment. Plenty of used ones available online for about £100+ but they're a bit of a lottery as to condition.
