XJS 4.0 Kickdown mod?

I see there is a mod on early cars to move a micro switch on the throttle body for earlier kickdown but I wonder what can be done for the 4.0L auto?

There is a kickdown switch under the peddle that is activated once your foot is hard down. Now will this work at any throttle opening if activated?

Using the sport button holds RPM higher but if a secondary kickdown switch were to be wired into the peddle switch and mounted where the cruise control blank is, would in theory give a semi tiptronic feature for down shifts. It would be nice for entering tight corners or planning over taking.

Or is there something else in the control system that says there needs to be a wide throttle and the switch pressed to kick down?

Anyone know more on the kickdown system of these boxes?
