I need some suggestions- my 2013 XF shows a gearbox fault & won't drive. A new battery solved it for a little while then the fault reappeared.

I've had it on charge overnight but no result. My EOBD code reader shows nothing. Battery reads 12.8V, aux battery reads 13.2V.

Just in case it's relevant it had new gearbox oil & filter 10k miles ago.

If anyone has any ideas what I need to do to fix this then I'd appreciate it.

I'm looking at an XF battery replacement and was told that while is doesn't need coding, there is a reset needed in the car's software.

There is also a very active Facebook group (Jaguar XF Owners & Enthusiasts) that has an array of advice.

If you disconnect the battery there's a design fault whereby you lose central locking & it needs coding (5 minute job, £60)

For any who would benefit:

To reset the system it's not enough to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. Instead, disconnected the battery & short-circuit the car's battery terminals to discharge any capacitors. I did this & the gearbox fault cleared.
